Weather watch: Trough of low pressure slow moving South

A TROUGH of low pressure lies slow moving over the southern parts of Fiji.

The weather bulletin number issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning says associated cloud and showers affects the southern and eastern parts of the group.

Meanwhile, a moist east to northeast wind flow prevails over Fiji.

As for the forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group expect occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over KadavuĀ  and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Also expect cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca group, the eastern parts and interior of the other larger islands.

Otherwise it will be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorm.

Isolated heavy falls possible and localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

For mariners expect moderate east to northeast winds, fresh at times with moderate to rough seas.

The outlook for Wednesday expect occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms over Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lau group and Lomaiviti group, eastern and interior parts of the larger islands.

Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.
