Weather watch: Heavy rain alert for some parts of the group

HEAVY rain alert remains in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Western half of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this afternoon says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Fiji.

Meanwhile, another trough of low pressure just to the west of the country is expected to gradually drift east and affect the group from tonight.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group expect occasional showers and few thunderstorms for the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, western half of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

Showers increasing to rain, becoming frequent and heavy at times from tonight.

For the rest of Fiji group expect cloudy with some showers over the eastern parts and interior of Viti Levu.

Showers expected to become frequent and heavy with isolated thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon.

, cloudy with afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms.

For mariners, moderate east to northeast winds with moderate seas.

The outlook for Thursday expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms and over Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaviti and southern Lau group.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with afternoon and evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.
