NO corrections officer will go on leave in the lead-up to the November 14 polls and on election day.

Corrections Commissioner Francis Kean confirmed this yesterday, saying this was standard procedure in any disciplined service.

He said this was to ensure officers remained focused on their duties during elections.

Pre-poll exercise for corrections officers at the Southern Division started at the Naboro Corrections Facility yesterday.

“All our staff are actually going through pre-polling and also inmates under our care who are eligible to vote and are registered, they will also cast their vote today (yesterday).”

Mr Kean said after the officers cast their vote, they would get back to operation as normal.

Fiji will go to the polls next Wednesday.
