THE current COVID-19 vaccine supply has been exhausted, a statement from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services revealed.
The ministry stated no sites would be open for vaccination today (yesterday) and that the very little remaining stock left would be used for targeted vaccination activities.
It stated that more than 50,000 people in Fiji received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, with 12,354 people vaccinated as of Friday alone.
“It is evident through this massive turnout that Fijians are once again committed to protecting themselves, their families, and Fiji during this pandemic,” the ministry stated.
The ministry also announced that the second batch of vaccines through the COVAX facility is expected to arrive within the next two weeks.
“The next phase of the vaccine rollout will start soon after these 24,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine are received, therefore, if you missed out on getting vaccinated this time, please stand by for the start of the next phase in the next two weeks.
“Until then, please do continue to register to get vaccinated. Registering in advance will reduce your waiting time at future vaccination sites.”
