I WAS impressed when I first visited the Fiji Police Force and was accorded a quarter guard of honour and have been impressed with the work that you all do to keep Fiji safe.

These were the sentiments echoed by Switzerland’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Fiji David Vogelsanger in acknowledging the support of the Fiji Police Force as he paid a farewell visit to the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu yesterday.

Mr Vogelsanger said there was never any major security issues concerning Swiss nationals during his tenure and he commended the work of the Force in providing a safe environment for their nationals who have chosen to call Fiji homeĀ or are visiting for leisure or work purposes..

Having been based out of Auckland he said it was reassuring that their Consular in Fiji had a close working relationship with the Fiji Police Force and asked that the same support be shown to the incoming Ambassador.

The Acting Commissioner of Police assured the outgoing Ambassador that the Fiji Police Force would continue to strengthen their working relationship.

He said the institution has benefitted tremendously through training opportunities which the Swiss Government has supported.
