SPECIAL Olympics Fiji president Bishwa Sidal believes his team has achieved more than any team without disabilities as his team is now into its final preparations before the starting of the Abu Dhabi Special Olympics World Games.

“My athletes have done or achieved more than any athletes or team without disabilities,” Sidal said.

Sidal believes the stigma is still apparent where a line is drawn between athletes of physical and mental disabilities and it was about time that people were educated.

“We have to educate people that people with disabilities are also people with determination,” he said.

The new title was a term placed on the team at the itatau two weeks ago by the President of Fiji Jioji Konrote saying the athletes were not people with disabilities yet people with determination.

Sidal said the support for him and his athletes had been huge and called on the people of Fiji to get behind team Fiji at the Abu Dhabi World Games.

Special Olympics Fiji are expected to split camp with athletes also travelling to Dubai for their events.
