SERVICES at the Nadi Hospital are expected to improve, says Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.
After paying a visit to staff members and patients at the hospital yesterday, Dr Waqainabete said he was impressed with the improvements made to the hospital especially in the clinical areas.
“The clinical area is very important and from what we have seen, it looks very good and comfortable not only for the patients but also for our staff,” he said.
“It’s important that our staff are also comfortable in their working environment so that they can enjoy coming to work each day.
“Medical staff spend very long hours in their hospitals so they need that comfortable environment as well.”
He said improving infrastructure at the Nadi Hospital was one of the main focuses of the ministry.
“We saw the maternity unit being refurbished and so far things look good for the hospital, which is one of the most important sub-divisional hospitals in the country.
“Nadi is important because it serves a large demographic and caters for the tourism industry.
“Of course it has the support of the private sector and we are very grateful for that. However, we do need to keep the standard of the hospital to a quality that can serve the people of Nadi.”
Dr Waqainabete also presented his i-sevusevu to the Tui Nadi.
