THE Reverend Feremi Cama will be the first iTaukei ordained as the Archbishop of Polynesia – Head of the Anglican Church in Fiji and the Pacific.

The ordaining service is expected to be attended by family members and hundreds of church members at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Suva this morning.

The 61-year-old was a former school teacher and had been part of the church since 1991.

“There a lot of challenges I’ve seen in the church and this is something I will need to address in my new role,” Reverend Cama said.

“One of the challenges is that some people think just because they have been part of the church for quite a long time more than the others, they tend to think they know everything and this is something I am going to address.”

Reverend Cama attained a Bachelor of Theology at Saint Johns College in New Zealand.

He was also the first Fijian to take up the role of Dean in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa in New Zealand.
