A 34-YEAR-OLD man charged with two counts of rape was been granted bail by the High Court in Suva last week.
The accused is alleged to have raped his grandniece on June 30, 2018 in the Lau group.
State lawyer Kimberly Semisi did not object to bail on the grounds that there is no likelihood of interference from the accused as the victim resides in Lau and he will be residing in Suva.
Justice Daniel Goundar granted the accused bail with the assurance that two sureties sign a surety bond of $1000 each.
He has also ordered that the accused must not leave Suva and must report to the Raiwaqa Police Station every Saturday.
The case has been adjourned to February 4, 2019.
