ALL the way from the interior of Navosa, Rambo stood out among its 10 competitors to claim first place in the first event of the 2019 Fiji Times Sabeto Horse Races, the Tourism Wild Card 250 metres.

Rambo team manager Samuela Vatureba said the name Rambo was given because of the strength and power from the Rambo movie that was a blockbuster in the country in the 90s.

“We love the action movie Rambo and we decided to name our champion horse Rambo because of his built and courageous attitude,” said Vatureba.

Competing for the first time in the Sabeto Horse Races, Rambo has shown a lot of improvement since the owners bought him from Nadi last year.

“We bought this horse last year for farming and transportation back at home, but we saw the capabilities and calibre he had and we thought of training him for the race and we were surprised Rambo won and I thank the jockey Nazeem Azam Khan for his bravery and mastering our champ to victory,” Vatureba said.

Meanwhile in second place horse named Krishna scooped the silver while Billyboy claimed the third place.
