THE Public Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Australian Dimity Fifer as the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Local Government.
PSC chairperson Vishnu Mohan said the appointment was made with the agreement of the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.
Ms Fifer is an experienced CEO and board member who has worked extensively in social services, volunteering and women’s network development and local government.
She was a Local Government Commissioner in the City of Whitehorse Melbourne, a Commissioner for the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation and CEO of Victorian Council of Social Service.
She led Australian Volunteers International (AVI) for more than 12 years from 2002, and in 2015 established Pacific Women’s Network, which has over 150,000 members of which 36,000 are based in Fiji.
Ms Fifer’s appointment follows the withdrawal of lawyer Jovilisi Suveinakama who had been earlier appointed into the role.
