THE province of Lomaiviti has seen they have an important role to play in terms of accepting offenders who have been released from the correctional facilities.

This was highlighted by the Chairman of the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting Joji Qaranivuli during the opening of the Lomaiviti Yellow Ribbon Program Symposium.

Mr Qaranivalu said after an offender was released the missing link for the yasana (province) would be to facilitate these offenders.

“I see that, this has always been the missing link after today’s discussions I believe that there will be a way forward for us to help the inmate when he comes out that we have a very important role to play,” Mr Qaranivalu said.

The Senior Superintendent for the  Fiji Corrections Services and Director of Rehabilitation Salote Panapasa said the  province has a total of 145 inmates currently in their correctional facilities.
