Prasad for Oceania snooker event

SAHIL Prasad will represent Fiji at the Oceania Open Snooker Championship in Australia next month after taking out the Champion of Champions title at the Merchants Club in Suva on Sunday.

The 23-year-old maintained his status as the number one snooker player in the country after beating Praneel Singh 3-2 in a close final.

Sahil came out on top in his pool and simply outclassed his elder brother Rahil 3-0 in the quarter-final.

In the semi-final, Sahil overcame Walter Robinson 3-2.

Tournament co-ordinator Esala Talebula said some interesting results were recorded especially during the group stage.

Meanwhile the 2019 Oceania Billiards and Snooker Championships will be split up between New Zealand and Australia.

New Zealand will be hosting the under-21 snooker from February 17-19 followed by the U21 Trans-Tasman Test match on February 20.

The inaugural Oceania Masters will follow the U21 events from February 21-23. Australia will then host the women’s, the six reds and the open events from March 9-17 at the Mount Pritchard Community Club in New South Wales.
