FIJI’S Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has reminded Fijians on how the religious event of Diwali has always served as a bridge that linked Fijian communities to one another in kindred celebration.

“Even in those tragic times of our history when Fijians were pitted against one another, divided along ethnic and religious lines, Diwali has always served as a bridge that linked Fijian communities to one another in kindred celebration,” Mr Bainimarama said.

“Those moments of happiness we shared together, even in the darkest of times, gave us all a glimpse into the remarkable potential of a united, inclusive Fiji.”

Mr Bainimarama said for generations, the Fijian people have joined hands to celebrate the festival of lights.
