A TOTAL of 145 inmates in Fiji Corrections Service centres around the country are from the Lomaiviti Province.

FCS director of rehabilitation Senior Superintendent Salote Panapasa said out of the 145 inmates, 97 were convicted while 48 were in remand. SS Panapasa said the Yellow Ribbon program was the continuation of their community engagement services.

“One of the many challenges we at the FCS face is the acceptance of prisoners who are released from our various institutions,” SS Panapasa said.

She said they had conducted symposiums for the provinces of Kadavu, Tailevu, Lau, Serua/Namosi and the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma.

“We have another two provinces to conduct our symposiums in. “This is the fifth province and the other two will be the provinces of Ra and Cakaudrove before this year ends,” she said.
