THE Fiji Warriors ran riot in the rain to wipe out Tonga A 47-0 during their World Rugby Pacific Challenge clash at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday.

Warriors coach Kele Leawere says the bonus point win has shaped them up for an exciting finish with the last game against Junior Japan to be a decider for the title.

“It will come down to the wire,” Leawere said.

“There are a lot of areas we need to work on before that Japan game and we definitely will need to put in the hard yards.”

Fiji scored first in the seventh minute when debutant right wing Marika Vularewa dotted down on the right hand corner from behind the ruck five metres from the Tongan tryline.

Blindside winger Epeli Momo extended Fiji’s lead in the 23 minute with a set piece scrum move which saw him dive over for another try on the opposite end of the Tongan tryline towards the Nasese embarkment side of ANZ Stadium.

Simone Kuruvoli made no mistake with his first successful kick of the night after missing his first conversion attempt, sending both teams to the half-time break with Fiji holding a 12-0 lead.

Fiji upped the tempo in the second half as the rain picked up at the ANZ Stadium and the Tongans tiring out, with Kuruvoli, inside centre Taniela Soqonawasaloa, fullback Osea Waqa, tighthead prop Joseva Nasaroa, reserve winger Alipate Waidilo adding their names to the try-scorers list all successfully converted with Fiji running out to a 47-0 win.

Unforced errors was the plight of the Tongan attack as multiple point scoring chances were ruined by a lapse in concentration and the slippery conditions. Fiji
