CUVU College and Sigatoka Methodist High School dominated the opening day of the Coca-Cola Nadroga/Navosa Zone at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

Cuvu leads the boys division with 11 gold, four silver and six bronze medals, Sigatoka Methodist was second with five gold, five silver and eight bronze medals while Sigatoka Andhra was third with five gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

In the girls division, Sigatoka Methodist is irst with 11 gold, four silver and six bronze medals, Cuvu second with three gold, one silver and four bronze medals while Navosa Central College was third with two gold, four silver and one bronze medals.

Cuvu College sprinter Paula Nasara was crowned the Coca-Cola Nadroga/Navosa Zone’s fastest high school student after winning the blue ribbon event yesterday.

The former Natabua High School athlete clocked 11.2 seconds as he outpaced his fellow competitors to secure the golden win.

Paula said he planned his race well to take out the top award in the event.

He said his next focus was to do well at the all important Coca-Cola Games in Suva.

“My next big target is do the same in Suva but it is going to be tough,” said Paula.

Meanwhile, Senikaili Voli won the senior girls 100m with a time 13.59secs.

Voli who also won last year’s zone meet failed to participate at the Fiji Finals but is aiming to stamp her mark at this year’s event.

Ratu Filimoni of Cuvu College won the 100m junior boys while Kelemeni Lagi of Sigatoka Methodist won the inter boys 100m.
