Oceania 7s: Black Ferns development squad to rely on senior members

BLACK Ferns 7s development squad team coach Crystal Kaua said exposing the next level of sevens talent to international competition was crucial in the development of players.

“It really is a stepping stone to that Black Ferns 7s squad and we have already seen players graduate from this team into full time contracts.

“We are together for a short amount of time so we want to get these players in an environment where they can be confident and express themselves on the field,” said Kaua

The Black Ferns sevens development team has will rely on the experience of senior members and Rio gold medalists Shakira Baker, Terina Te Tamaki and Huia Harding to lead the way this weekend

The Black Ferns will play their first game against New Caledonia at 11:20am at ANZ Stadium this Friday.
