New vocational facility opens at Nasinu Corrections Centre

THE Fiji Corrections Service officially opened its vocational facility at the Nasinu Corrections Centre this morning.

The centre that offers courses accredited by the Fiji Higher Education is set up to train inmates in various fields.

Facilitator Assistant Superintendent of Corrections Peter Ryan said the centre currently offered Level 1 and Level 2 automotive engineering courses.

ASC Ryan said  the objective of setting up the centre was to reduce recidivism.
