THE much anticipated Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s final between Know Your Neighbour Police White and Waimanu was called off last night becasuse of poor lighting at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.
Tournament official Jeff Tamata said the game was called off and the two teams would share the main prizemoney.
“It is beyond our control and beyond the control of the Nadi Town Council,” Tamata said.
“There was a power blackout and it was beyond our control.”
The Oldies final between Waimanu and Big Bula Water Park was also called off with the two teams sharing the prize money.
Meanwhile, Waimanu has regained its dominance in the local 7s competition after forcing its way in the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s final.
The side which has produced some of the country’s top rugby players hit the headlines again after defeating some of the top teams to reach the final.
The relatively unknown young side gave Ratu Filise a taste of its own medicine in the semi- final.
Sequence of free flowing passes, audacious offloads and pure Fijian rugby 7s game were displayed by the Waimanu side against the Ifereimi Tovilevu-captained side.
