GOVERNMENT recognises that there are drainage issues in Navua and they are being addressed.

This was highlighted by Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while responding to Vashist Muni College Year 13 student Tushaar Sharma during his first live Facebook budget consultations with students today.

Sharma acknowledged the improvements made to the road conditions around Navua, but said he would appreciate if Government looked into the drainage problem which could be at times, a potential threat to motorists and pedestrians in Navua.

He said the drainage problem was faced frequently by those who access the road leading to the Ro Matanitobua House and the entrance to his school.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said Government would continue to do more work to address the drainage problems faced by those in Navua.

“We also take note of the specific road you have mentioned and we will ask the Ministry of Waterways to attend to this,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
