A NEW director of intelligence will be joining the national security and defence council secretariat this week.
Secretariat director general Timoci Natuva confirmed this in an interview saying this would be a totally new role.
“Our new director of intelligence will join us next week, this is a new role and we will inform you accordingly who that person is once he joins us,” Mr Natuva said.
He said the new appointee would assist them in capacity building and their role in formalising strategies for Fiji’s national security policies.
“Currently, there are around 30 staff with the inclusion of four directors. We are integrated with the Ministry of Defence.
“Something we lack is capacity building and this is something we really need to develop.”
