CONTRACTORS have successfully concluded work on the Nakauvadra River Channel in Rakiraki.

Flooding of the Nakauvadra creek had been a cause for concern for many residents and business owners over the past years.

Desilting work for the creek was commissioned on June 17 last year and cost Government about $1.3million.

Speaking in Rakiraki this afternoon, Minister for Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy said the river channel improvement work would give a sense of security to business owners and also cease flooding issues plaguing the town.
