THE MSC Magnifica arrived in Fiji from Tonga on its maiden voyage with 2300 passengers on board.

The MSC Magnifica is a luxurious musica-class cruise ship that’s on a 119-day cruise around the world.

Passengers on board Magnifica are mainly from the Western Mediterranean and other parts of Europe.

Cruise ship international host Houcine Mahersi said the vessel could accommodate a total of 3050 guests on a voyage, but only carried 2300 on this world cruise.

“The next port of call for the cruise ship is the Lautoka Port,” Mr Mahersi said.

He said after Lautoka, the cruise ship would make its way to the Bay of Islands in New Zealand.

The 72-year-old said she loved every moment of being here.

“It’s amazing this place. I wish I had a home around here. Fiji is definitely a place to visit for if you’re looking for tropical climate. The scenery as we entered the harbour was amazing. Only if we had a bit more time to spend in your beautiful country,” the former school teacher told Fiji Times Online.

She is on the cruise with two of her friends.

Another passenger Lorenzo Andrea, a physiotherapist by profession, said this was his first holiday trip to the Pacific and was already thinking of returning.

“This is not a place to spend hours only. I need to go to a hotel near a beach and spend a couple of weeks with some beers there. I am definitely coming back to Fiji,” Mr Andrea said.
