FIFTY women this morning showcased their work such tailored made clothes and delicious homemade food at the Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Centre open day in Makoi.
Centre manager Shahista Shazna Khan said the centre was set up for women that were victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, underprivileged backgrounds and rejection.
“These women will graduate from the centre next week Thursday in cookery, tailoring and other sorts of skills. This is to help them become independent and not to depend on their family to assist them,” she said.
Ms Khan said the centre served a beacon of hope for broken women from underprivileged backgrounds that are trying to restore their lives back to normal.
“We teach them that whatever happened to them is not the end of their world and this is where we come in to keep reminding them of their worth,” she said.
