THE MSC Magnifica — a Musica-class cruise ship — made its maiden call to the Port of Suva yesterday.

Passengers on board are from the Western Mediterranean going on an incredible voyage of 119 days around the world.

The cruise ship is on its first world cruise scheduled for the year which set sail from Genoa, Italy on January 5.

MSC Magnifica international host Houcine Mahersi said the cruise ship itinerary was divided into three segments.

“It had crossed the Atlantic Ocean and toured the Caribbean, transmitting through the Panama Canal and explored Central America en route to San Francisco,” he said.

“The second tour consisted of the Oceania region which includes Hawaii, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia.

“The final segment of the trip will see passengers exploring the Indian Ocean visiting Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Oman, the Emirates and Jordan before returning to the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal.”

The vessel has 16 decks and 980 crew members working on board the ship.

MSC Cruises is the world’s largest privately-owned cruise line and is one of the brand market leaders in Europe, South America and Southern Africa.
