A CLAN on Taveuni shed tears of joy after 1544 acres of land that they once lost to European settlers during the colonial era was returned to them.
Members of the yavusa Nasuva, which includes five mataqali of Welagi Village, were given back their land after 30 years of pursuing the matter with past governments.
Turaga ni mataqali Muanaicake, Osea Kubunavanua, who spoke on behalf of the five clans, said this issue was discussed and attended to by past governments from the time of the late Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau and Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.
