Las Vegas 7s: USA leads series

USA 7s has extended its lead in the World Sevens Series after five tournaments with 98 points.

This after the side won the HSBC Las Vegas 7s, thrashing Samoa 27-0 in front of a vocal crowd.

It was the second time in as many days that the American national anthem was sung but the first time in many years that the Samoan anthem was sung.

Both the finalists were beaten earlier in pool play.

USA was beaten 24-26 on the first day of pool play while Samoa was beaten 21-26 by Spain.

New Zealand is in second position with 93 points while Fiji is in third position with 84 points.

South Africa has slipped to fifth position with 67 points while the English have moved to fourth with 68 points.

Australia is in sixth position with 57 points.

Samoa has moved up to seventh with 49 points with Argentina at eighth position with 47 points.
