OUR national men’s sevens rugby team put itself under pressure against Australia with a lot of errors, coach Gareth Baber said.

However, he said, the team picked up against New Zealand and it was a tough game.

Fiji had a miserable outing in the second day of the HSBC Las Vegas 7s losing 15-26 to Australia and 14-17 to New Zealand.

“Both teams deserved the wins,” Baber said.

NZ assistant coach Tomasi Cama said they knew it was going to be a tough game against Fiji as all teams were after the World Champion title.

“We were so sure of how we were going to play Fiji,” Cama said.

“I told the boys to just play to our tempo, to try and stop them from playing to their strength- which is the offloading game.”

Fiji will now play South Africa in the fifth place semi-final at 8.28am tomorrow Fiji time.
