THERE is a need to re-look at the 2013 Constitution if we are genuine about seeking national unity and stability progress and prosperity, says Opposition member of Parliament Ratu Antonio Lalabalavu.

While delivering his speech in Parliament yesterday, Ratu Antonia claimed the 2013 Constitution remained a draconian law imposed on the people of Fiji falling short of international standards.

He said that it was simply a pity how we could celebrate something that has negated the genuine parliamentary democracy to constitutional dictatorship.

He claimed that the fact of the document was that it remained a draconian law imposed on the people of Fiji falling short of international standards.

“Madam Speaker, as a new member of this House I do not wish to jump from the fry pan into fire on issue which are sensitive and carry emotional value and at the same time range as contentious national issues, however, it would be dereliction of my duty if I do not comment on some of them.

Meanwhile, Ratu Antonio said it was a sheer privilege and honour for him to be elected and serve with his father Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
