JAPAN International Cooperation Agency (JICA) personnel and national baseball coach Kento Oshima are conducting baseball clinics and trials at Albert Park in Suva this week.

Oshima says the culmination of these trials will result in the selection of the under-12 Fiji baseball team.

“I have students from all over Fiji who have turned up to take part in the sport,” Oshima said.

He says the trials will continue until next week where he will select his team.

“The team selected will take part in a tournament in Sydney, Australia.”

There are 15 students involved in the clinic cum trial and more are expected to join.

Oshima says Fijians are no stranger to learning new sports and even more adapt if the sport is a team sport.

“There is so many talent here in Fiji. “We just have to focus on getting them to play the basics well.”

The trials will continue at Albert Park today.
