PACIFIC Islands Association of Non-Governmental Organisation (PIANGO) executive director Emele Duituturaga says women’s work is never done and women hold up half the sky.

Her comments came as the world commemorates International Women’s Day today.

PIANGO, she said was committed to the achievement of gender equality.

“Right now is a great and important time in history to do everything possible to help forge a more gender-equal and gender-balanced world. Women have come a long way, yet there’s still more to be achieved,” Duituturaga said.

“PIANGO will continue to promote CSO partnerships for development effectiveness and support program activities to reduce and eliminate violence against women and girls and to promote economic and political empowerment,” she added.

“We salute CSO organisations, especially women NGOs, who have been at the forefront of promoting human rights and those providing services for women and children.”
