HSBC World Series: Fijiana to play Ireland and USA

THE Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s girls need to lift their standard at the Kitakyushu 7s tournament in Japan if they want to be part of the HSBC World Sevens Series next season.

The Fijiana team is placed 10th in the points table after three tournaments and the fourth meet will be held in Japan and it kicks off today.

Fiji is in Pool C with Ireland, England and the USA team.

The captains of the 12 participating teams gathered for a photo shoot at the Shinozaki Hachiman Shrine in Kitakyushu, Japan, on Thursday as the countdown continued to the fourth round of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series 2019.

The Saiasi Fuli-coached side plays their first pool match today against Ireland at 1.30 pm, then they take on USA at 4.36pm and the final pool game against England at 6.58pm.

The quarterfinal kicks off on Sunday at 1.30 pm and the cup final is at 8.30pm.

Defending champions and table toppers New Zealand will face France, who took home silver at last year’s tournament after reaching their first Cup final on the series, Russia and invitational team Japan in Pool A.

In Pool B, Australia the bronze medalists in Kitakyushu last year will take on Canada, Spain, and China.
