A TOTAL of 3066 sexual offences cases were recorded in 2014, says Fiji’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

DCP Tudravu said the highest number of sexual offences cases was recorded in the said year.

He said while the highest number of sexual offences were recorded in 2014, it was interesting to note the downward trend up until 2018.

ACP Tudravu said the 3066 figure was reduced by 410 cases for the year 2015 during the reporting period.

He said Police recorded 2651 sexual offences cases in 2015.

In 2016, 1593 cases were recorded making another reduction of 1058 cases in comparison to previous years.

ACP Tudravu said in 2017, a total of 1041 sexual cases were recorded, and in 2018, there were 943 cases recorded.

He highlighted those statistics this morning while addressing lawyers from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The two-day conference commenced today at the Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour.
