Special Olympics: Four medals in the bag for Team Fiji

THE Special Olympics Fiji team has already achieved a milestone at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi having two gold medals and two silver medals in the bag with just two days of competition completed.

Robert Ciril Rabaka 17, won Fiji’s first gold medal in the men’s 50 metres freestyle swimming event while Gary Drotini won a silver in the men’s 100m backstroke as well as Masilina Mara who also scooped a silver in the women’s 50 metre freestyle event.

Nineteen-year-old  Nasema Nahehe won gold in the women’s 1500 metres event clocking in a time of 6.50 seconds.

Special Olympic Fiji’s athletes will compete in a total of five sports with more rounds to go on today.
