FIJI Football Association chief executive officer Muhammed Yusuf has voiced his organisation’s support for the Fijian families both here and abroad affected by the recent mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand where 49 people lost their lives.

“It is a tragic event and should not happen anywhere in the world,” Yusuf said.

New Zealand has a large following of Fiji football supporters and former players also former citizens who still support and follow the game vividly.

“We think of those who are saddened by the attack and remember those who have been lost. Players had already been on social media when it happened sending out their thoughts and prayers to those affected.

“We remember those who have lost loved ones or loved ones are injured.

“Our thoughts are with them and we will grieve with New Zealand.”

Players and officials of the Fiji Football Association national men’s team held a prayer vigil on Friday night in memory of the victims and their families.
