FIA appoints new president

DOMINION Finance Limited CEO Nitesh Lal =has been appointed president of the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA).

Mr Lal has been a member of the FIA since March back in 2003 and was elected to the FIA Council in April 2016.

He has chaired the Strategic Plan Committee in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018, and the Professional Development Committee 2017/2018 & 2018/2019.

He has also served on the Investigation; Act, Rules and By-Laws; Peer Review; International Liaison and Journal Committees in the past.

Mr Lal graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Accounting and Financial Management/Information Systems.

He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia; and has completed executive training at the Australian Graduate School of Management and the CFO Leadership Summit Asia in Singapore.

He has extensive experience in finance, marketing, international business, people management and business operations.

“Our vision is to be a world class body that provides leadership and builds trust in the accounting, assurance, finance and business advisory professions in Fiji and the region,” Mr Lal said at last Friday’s annual general meeting following his appointment.

“The council will be working towards achieving this ultimate goal and we will always be working in the best interest of our members, for our stakeholders and for our country. I assure you all that your council is committed to delivering the best results for everyone.”
