SUPERVISOR of Elections Mohammed Saneem is pleading with all pre-poll staff not rush to their destinations.
The plea followed news that a Fijian Elections Office vehicle carrying passengers had veered off the road while on its way to a pre-polling venue at Udu Point in Vanua Levu today.
“Information has just been received that one of our vehicles has just met with an accident and had veered off the road to its schedule polling venue which is in Udu Point,” he said during a press conference.
Mr Saneem said the vehicle was not carrying ballot materials.
He said all ballot materials have been safely transferred to their destinations.
“At the moment we have received information that no one was seriously injured. We have dispatched our officers in charge to go and investigate this matter.
“The ballot materials are safe as it was carried in the second material. It has been transported to a safe location whilst our second vehicle provides emergency relief support transporting them to the near health facility.”
“Police officers please keep an eye on the speed and make sure they are not travelling beyond the speed limit,” he said.
