The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School Dragons under-17 side will give in their all in their semi-final of the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League South/Eastern Zone competition in the Vodafone Trophy today.
The newcomers take on pre-tournament favourites Queen Victoria School after hammering Suva Sangam School 46-8 in the quarter-finals last week.
School principal Sanjay Raman said reaching the semi-finals was already a bonus for them and qualifying for the final would be an added bonus.
“We were readying ourselves for the Deans Rugby competition and we were surprised when we found out that we were registered for the league competition as well.
“We put together a team quickly and the boys just did wonders,” Raman said.
He added the side would be out for a win today but the boys have been told not to worry about the result.
“If they win good, if they can’t they don’t have to worry.
“They have already played their hearts out and we will be happy with any result.”
He has also called out to fans to come out in numbers and support their team.
“To all the fans, families and supporters together with the former MGM scholars, I plead to you to come out in numbers and support your team at the St Marcellin ground on Saturday (today) so they can create history and reach the final in their maiden season.”
