THE Apco Colour Explosion 2019 will be held in Lautoka this Saturday.

Event organiser Paula Benn said the 5.7km walk was established five years ago to create strong awareness on Fiji’s biggest killer — non-communicable diseases.

“Based on the Ministry of Health’s wellness rainbow, participants will walk a five-kilometre route around Lautoka passing through seven different colours, with each colour depicting one NCD,” she said.

She said to celebrate the Apco Colour Explosion’s 5th anniversary, organisers have added elements to heighten excitement and vibrancy to the event.

“This year the event will change from being a morning walk to a late afternoon walk from Shirley Park at Marine Drive.

“When participants return to the park, there will be a sunset NCDs dance off competition under the stars.

“The Apco Colour Explosion 2019 has eight registered dance groups with entertainment by the professional dance group Desi Beatz.”

Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Alex O’Connor will officiate at the event this Saturday.
