Eid to be celebrated tomorrow

EID-ul-Fitr will be celebrated by Fijians of Muslim descent around the country tomorrow.

Fiji Muslim League general secretary Saiyad Hussain said that the non-sighting of the moon last night meant that Eid would be celebrated on Thursday, June 6.

If the moon had been sighted last night, Eid would have been celebrated today.

Followers of Islam had gone through a month of fasting in the lead up to tomorrow’s function.

On behalf of the Fiji Muslim League, Mr Hussain has wished everyone Eid Mubarak.

Tomorrow will begin with prayers in the morning and visitation to households to mark the occasion.
