THE National Federation Party says it is clear that drug smuggling into the country has now become a trade.

Party leader Professor Biman Prasad said he feared that the alleged drug trade would affect the future of Fiji’s younger generation, particularly those in secondary schools and tertiary institutions who are most vulnerable”.

“Also, the fact that hard drugs are imported into Fiji means two things. Fiji as the hub is used as a transit point and more seriously it may be pushed into the local market,” Prof Prasad claimed. “And only the wealthy in our society could afford hard drugs.”
