Climate and disaster risk finance opportunities in the region, among other things, are to be discussed at the 2022 Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM).

Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) secretary general Henry Puna mentioned this while delivering his opening remarks at the PACMA/MAV/PIF FEMM 2022 media workshop in Vanuatu on Wednesday.

He said the meeting agenda would also include the new 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, economic recovery and stability, and discussions would be made on the next steps on the regionally developed Pacific Resilience Facility.

“This year’s meeting is momentous as it will shape key regional initiatives moving forward,” Mr Puna said.

“Our region is strategically positioned to leverage opportunities and substantive progress across many of our priorities, including the opportunity to strengthen old partnerships and nurture new ones to assist us in our efforts.”

He then encouraged reporters to be bold in their reporting and the way they craft and shape regional narratives.
