CUT down kava consumption and spend more time with your families. Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Disaster Management and Meteorological Services, Waterways and Environment Jale Sigarara made this call during his visit to villages in Cakaudrove and Macuata this week.
Mr Sigarara called on the village men to lead their families with a vision that would be prosperous for all.
“Cut down your consumption of kava because your families need you more,” he said.
“Most times when men drink kava in the evenings, they spend long hours away from their families. With the increasing reports of assault against women and children, it is imperative that you prioritise your families and stay with them.”
Mr Sigarara also urged village leaders to involve women and youths in meetings and discussions.
“Their voices need to be heard and they also have good opinions and suggestions as well,” he said.
“There are times you also need to hear the children. Never push them aside so please involve everyone in the village development projects, even our special children.”
Mr Sigarara thanked the women in all villages for attending to their duties in keeping their families together.
