COVID-19: 126 new cases, 59 recoveries and one death

Fiji has yet recorded another three digit figure of positive COVID-19 cases – a total of 126 and a death as of 8am today.
Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong said the 42-year-old male was admitted to the hospital with leptospirosis.
“He also tested positive for COVID-19 during his admission,” Dr Fong said.
“His death is being investigated by his doctors to determine if it will be classified as a COVID-19 death,” he said.
Dr Fong also clarified that there have been 59 recoveries since the last update, which means that there are now 1542 active cases in isolation.
“There have been 2020 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021.
“We have recorded a total of 2090 cases in Fiji since the first case was reported in March 2020.”
