A CONTAINER full of school supplies for Magodro Secondary School in the interior of Viti Levu is stuck in Australia.

School principal Alumita Ciwanacagi said the costs of transporting the container to Fiji was too expensive for the school and villagers.

“The total cost is $A10,000 which comes to over $F15,000,” she said during a talanoa session at Bukuya Village with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

“That is too expensive. “As a community we have been raising money and managed to collect $6000 but that is still not enough.”

She explained the container was filled with school stationery and school bags that could be used by students.

“The school is growing and we will get more students.

“At the moment we have 80 students in Year 9 and Year 10. “There are plans to expand the school and construction on a new building will start soon. “So we will need that shipment as soon as possible.” She said they would need financial help from Government to transport the container to Fiji. An official accompanying the PM said they would need to see a full list of the items so they could work out how to assist the school.
