Col Manueli laid to rest

MEMBERS of the Republic of Fiji Navy lined up the main street of Suva in a guard of honour to the late Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander, Colonel Paul Manueli.

Col Manueli passed away last Saturday after a short illness.

The funeral service for Col Manueli was held at the Albert Park Pavillion today.

He will be laid to rest at the Lovonilase Cemetery in Suva.

Col Manueli was a former senator and minister of finance under the Soqosoqo Vakavulewa ni Taukei (SVT) government led by current Opposition and SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka from 1992-1999.

He was also the first indigenous local commander of the RFMF which he headed from 1974 to 1979.

He is survived by his wife Lydia, son Peter, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
