NEWLY appointed Suva football coach,Sam Lal views his first assignment against Labasa and Dreketi as a challenge.
Lal, 58, said the reason for him to join the Capital City side was to help them win major domestic football titles.
“I am looking forward to doing my best for Suva though I am originally from Lautoka but I see Suva as one of the good teams in Fiji. I have seen Suva play and there was something inside telling me to come and coach them.
“Suva has good players but the players need to jel well with one another and they can win big competitions.
“I have full confidence that I can handle this team. Suva fans should be ready to see a changed team.”
Lal was part of a football academy in Australia, which is under England’s West Ham United football club and he is also the goalkeeper coach. He had featured for Lautoka from 1982-1983.
“We want to play attacking football since football is all about scoring goals and if you don’t score then you would not win, so I want the players to play as a team to score goals and in defence as well,” he said.
“Labasa and Dreketi would be a testing ground for me.
“It is my challenge to beat Labasa and Dreketi which would lead me to the remainder of the season.”
Fiji Gold Suva plays Labasa at 1.30pm at Subrail Park in Labasa.
