THE 2019 Fiji Times Sabeto Horse Races has received a safety boost with McDonald’s Fiji managing director Marc McElrath flying in ten new helmets from New Zealand to be used at the event.

McElrath attended the races last year and offered to sponsor the helmets for this year’s races.

Sabeto Horse Races event creator Kim Beddoes said Marc kept his promise and they now had ten brand new helmets for the jockeys.

She said this would be provided to all jockeys in each event.

“This will add to the safety feature and it will be the first time proper helmets will be used at a horserace in the country,” Beddoes said.

“We are grateful to the Marc and the team at McDonald’s for this kind donation. It certainly will help lift the standard of the event which has become Fiji’s premier horseraces in just three years.”
