Bainimarama reappointed as FRU president

PRIME Minister Voreqe Bainimarama received a bonus birthday present today, being reconfirmed for another four year term to the position of president of the Fiji Rugby Union for another year during the FRU Annual General Meeting at the Novotel Conventional Centre in Lami today.

FRU Chief Executive Officer John O’Connor confirmed the reappointment after Bainimarama was the only nominee bought forward for the position.

“There was supposed be elections for the board of directors and the president’s positions “ said O’Connor.

“But there was only one nominee bought forward and the president has been reconfirmed for another four years.

All nine sitting board directors have also retained their positions on the board for another year.
